Rhoenoak Artworks

Image
And some more of the ongoing work I'm doing for author John Enitsu 's Rhoenoak novel world. These are the keeper of Lyrium plains, a majestic white stag; the unforgiving Mirage wasteland; and Soliterus plains, where the plumbra come to the waterholes to drink.

Repurposed playing cards

Image
Is there anything more useless than an incomplete set of playing cards? We have several. When primed with white paint however, they give a decent tiny canvas (I also tried using a cheap gold paint that needed to be appplied VERY generously to be opaque); the drawings are done in ink pens, pencil, gold pen, and acrylic paint. They are also nice to colour with printer inks that make wonderfully surprising patterns

Splittermond Surmakar

Illustrations I did for the recently published Surmakar book for the Splittermond RPG by Uhrwerk Verlag. Surmakar is - obviously - a desert region.

Young Odin listens to Mimir's head

Image
Odin, the Norse god of wisdom and magic, and king of the Asir, gave his eye to gain knowledge from drinking from the well of wisdom, hung himself to invent magic, and keeps the severed head of the giant Mimir conserved with herbs to ask its counsel. The many attributes of gods are fascinating to depict; Odin here has both his ravens, the spear Gungnir that returns after being thrown, and the golden ring Dreipnir that replicates itself eightfold every nine days. Most paintings show him old and grey and focus on his missing eye, but what I always liked most about him is his unquenchable thirst for knowledge and understanding. I wanted to show that longing, making him lean forward to drink wisdom from the dying lips of a slain giant (who, being the oldest beings in the world, are also the wisest). Mimir I wanted to look somewhat inhuman, and really big, even if it's also said that Odin has the head with him at all times. I guess he'll have to use his godly strength to haul it aro...

Splittermond - Dakardsmyr

Image
The Dakardsmyr region expansion for Uhrwerk's RPG Splittermond was published earlier this year. These are my contributions to it. The region is full of swamps and brimstone mines and cities slowly sinking into the swamp - it sounds pretty horrible to live at, but nice to paint ;)

Harpies: Keeper

Image
Early this year, harpies began crowding in my sketchbook, and have by now become a small world with a total of four harpy tribes in various degrees of human shape. These are the most human-like, without wings (I think) and only claws on their hands and scaly legs, but they rely heavily on magic to try and suppress the other three tribes. Right now there are some ink drawings, a charcoal face study and 3D model, this painting and lots of sketches, with another larger painting already on its way to the canvas (meaning, it's sketched and modelled, but I need to find the time).

Pyrographies

Image
These are pyrographies I made for a furniture project. Each side is 10 × 4,5cm with 45° corners, making a total of about 10 × 18cm. These are (in case I horribly failed depicting them) cats, ravens, a chameleon, and a kraken. This was pretty much my first attempt at pyrography since eigth grade, and I was a bit rushed, so there's not much detail to look at, but I'm happy with them nonetheless.

Creature sheets I did for the Rhoenoak novel series. The author provided the text.

Rhoenoak: Pat vs Maruga

Image
Another illustration for the scifi/fantasy novel world Rhoenoak I'm illustrating for the author. This the the main character Pat, a pyrokinetic, battling the shapeshifting evil maruga. I also made my first time-lapse GIF for it:

Portrait of Benny

Image
A family dog's portrait. For a long time my first full painting in traditional media; acrylics, gouache, and coloured pencils on illustration board, 60×80cm. I immediately got hooked again and have several more paintings in the works. I may have to work out a better way of photographing my works, though, the colours seem off.
